Bone marrow donation medical guidelines include an assessment of body mass index (BMI) and height to weight ratio. There is not a minimum weight requirement. However, there are maximum weight guidelines for joining the registry and for donating marrow. These guidelines have been established to help ensure your safety as a donor.
If you are called to donate, you will undergo a physical exam and will be assessed for any weight-related health issues that might impact your ability to donate.
