At about the same time that a national registry of bone marrow donors was being coordinated in the United States, now called the Be The Match Registry®, other nations were building their own registries. Within two years of starting the national registry, the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) began collaborating with these international registries.
Today, several donor centers located outside of the United States are part of the NMDP Network. The donors from these international donor centers are included in a search of the Be The Match Registry.
Donor recruitment practices vary among these donor centers. Some centers do community recruitment and welcome telephone calls from the public; telephone numbers for those centers are listed here. Other centers recruit donors only through blood banks or similar methods. To learn more about these centers, contact us at questions@nmdp.org.
