Bob Falkenberg, 2021 Livermore Spirit Award recipient

Named after brothers Jay and Leigh Livermore, who were dedicated Be The Match® advocates, the Livermore Spirit Award recognizes individuals who’ve demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Be The Match’s life-saving mission.

And there’s no one more deserving of the 2021 Livermore Spirit Award than Bob Falkenberg.

Bob received a life-saving blood stem cell transplant in 2009 and began cycling during his healing and recovery.

In 2011, Bob turned his passion for cycling into a fundraising opportunity through Team Be The Match. To date, Bob has raised more than $130,000 (!) and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Today, Bob is retired and able to devote himself full-time to volunteering and fundraising with Be The Match. In 2021 he completed 13 courier trips, transporting life-saving bone marrow/stem cells from donors to patients. He is also a legislative ambassador and chair of the By The Mile for Be The Match program.

Bob leads the inaugural Tour de TC

This year, Bob’s continuing his dedication and commitment, serving as Team Captain for Tour de TC, a series of bike rides stopping at transplant centers to give hope to patients on their transplant journey, raise critical funds and build public awareness.

Learn how you can join Bob and ride for a brighter toMARROW in Tour de TC with routes in Florida, California, the East Coast and Midwest. Or, you can support Bob’s efforts directly with a gift of any size.
