7th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Awareness 5k Walk/Run

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month, set aside annually to bring attention to the blood disorder and the needs of the patient community. Millions of people all around the world are suffering from Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), and the only known cure for this debilitating blood disorder is a blood stem cell transplant. Whether securing local government proclamations, hosting awareness events, distributing resources, or showing support in other ways, many people are rallying around this monthlong event.

In order to help raise important awareness about SCD, we are happy to partner with the Sickle Cell Transplant Advocacy and Research Alliance (STAR) for their 7th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Awareness 5K Walk/Run on September 19, 2020. Due to the pandemic, this year’s 5K Walk/Run is going virtual.

Through this partnership, we invite everyone to support the cause by running or walking in their hometowns. Our hope is that wherever you live, you can participate in this meaningful event to help raise vital funds for groundbreaking research. All proceeds from this event will go towards STAR’s and Be The Match’s ongoing research efforts to safely cure SCD through bone marrow transplant and gene therapy.

Registration is now open, so lace up those sneakers and register for the event here: https://curesicklenow.org/index.php/event/sickle-cell-disease-awareness-5k-walk-run/.
