Match Madness. Help us score 3,000 more registry members

This season, help defeat blood cancer and blood disease!

Your healthy blood stem cells can literally be the cure for diseases like leukemia, lymphoma or sickle cell.

I think to be able to bless someone else is one of the greatest gifts that we can possibly do. This is a time for us to step up as a community and truly support each other.

Be'lee, sesarching patient

During the summer of 2019, Be’lee—a college senior—woke up and his life was changed.

Be’lee was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. Since his diagnosis, he has had to drop out of college and can’t work due to his compromised immune system, further elevated with COVID-19.

Patients are most likely to match donors who share their same ethnic background, so a diverse donor roster is essential. Like most patients, Be'lee doesn't have a fully matched donor in his family or a match on the Be The Match Registry.

More diversity equals more lives saved. Help us add 3,000 new potential donors to the Be The Match Registry by April 30 so Be'lee and patients like him have a fighting chance to win.

5 Steps to becoming a life-saving MVP

Donating isn’t just something you do—joining the registry is a promise to stay committed and donate when needed.

step 1

Register Online

Answer simple questions about your medical history to make sure you meet health guidelines.

step 2

Receive a cheek swab kit by mail in about 3-7 business days.

step 3

Swab your cheek and return the kit

Your sample will be tested and your genetic type will be added to the Be The Match Registry.

step 4

Stay committed while you wait to be matched

Because of the genetic complexity of matching donors to patients, it could be several months or many years before you’re matched to a patient.

step 5

Say "Yes" when asked to donate

Patients and their families are counting on you to keep your promise to donate if needed. You could be someone’s only hope for a cure.

Other ways to help save lives

A gift of any size will help add more donors to the registry, help with uninsured patient costs and fund life-saving research.

About Be The Match®

For people with life-threatening blood cancers—like leukemia and lymphoma—or other diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant. People can contribute to the cure as a member of the Be The Match Registry®, financial contributor or volunteer. Be The Match provides patients and their families one-on-one support, education, and guidance before, during and after transplant. Be The Match is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals and conducts research through its research program, CIBMTR® (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research®), so more lives can be saved. To learn more about the cure, visit BeTheMatch.org or call 1 (800) MARROW-2.
