Are you Ruby's match?
Are you Ruby's match?
Ruby doesn’t have what you’d call a normal childhood. Whereas most toddlers are leading carefree lives full of nonstop play and daily discoveries, Ruby’s home away from home is a hospital. After 27 hospitalizations and 4 surgeries, she’s learned to help the nurses check her vitals and take her temperature.
This is no way for a child to grow up.
Her sickle cell disease may be robbing her of her childhood, but it also threatens her future. Regardless of all the wonderful care she’s received, Ruby could still face pneumonia, stroke or worse if a blood stem cell match isn’t found.
As with all Black patients searching on the Be The Match Registry, she only has a 23% chance of finding a match. Join the registry and help Ruby overcome the odds.
You can save a life.
With a few simple steps, you're on your way to making a big difference.
About Be The Match®
For people with life-threatening blood cancers—like leukemia and lymphoma—or other diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant. People can contribute to the cure as a member of the Be The Match Registry®, financial contributor or volunteer. Be The Match provides patients and their families one-on-one support, education, and guidance before, during and after transplant. Be The Match is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals and conducts research through its research program, CIBMTR® (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research®), so more lives can be saved. To learn more about the cure, visit BeTheMatch.org or call 1 (800) MARROW-2.
