St. Louis community shows its love for Be The Match®

Laila featured on Fox News as she leads the way to inspire the St. Louis community to support Be The Match.

If you’re a Be The Match follower, you’ve no doubt heard about Laila Anderson: St. Louis Blues superfan, fierce dog lover and incredibly inspiring blood stem cell transplant recipient.

Since her transplant in 2019, Laila continues to inspire generosity and touch the hearts of those near and far.

And her inspiring spirit clearly runs in the family. Over the past few years, Laila’s grandparents, Jim and Dietra Lewis, along with their dear friend Joe Church, have been dedicating their efforts and energy to rally the St. Louis community, fundraising for Be The Match in honor of Laila and patients like her.

In November, they hosted another successful fundraising event at Annie Gunn’s in Chesterfield, Mo. in celebration of Laila’s life-saving journey with Be The Match; Laila was there, along with her donor, Kenton Felmlee. Since 2019, with the help of the generous St. Louis community, they have raised nearly one million dollars!

We’re extremely grateful to Jim, Joe and the St. Louis community who have rallied behind Laila and her family through their journey—all the way from diagnosis, through battling a life-threatening blood disorder—now paying it forward to help others.

With so many different ways to give financially, you too have the power to give patients like Laila a second chance at life. Please consider a gift of any size to Be The Match today.

“Every patient deserves a second chance at life, just like I got.” Laila told Fox 2. “By supporting Be The Match, you’re going to make that happen.”
