Be The Match® partners with Phi Theta Kappa to help save more lives

Matthew Kroeger   //

Be The Match is proud to announce our partnership with Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). PTK is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. Comprised of more than 3.8 million all-time members, PTK has nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 countries with approximately 240,000 active members in college.

As part of the collaboration, Be The Match sponsors Healthcare Edge, an online curriculum for PTK members to help successfully transition students into the healthcare field. The curriculum focuses on patient care, performance care, job care and self-care. Students can explore topics such as communicating with coworkers, stress management, avoiding healthcare burnout and finding employment. Many of the lessons are useful for students of any major.

“Healthcare Edge was an informative and helpful course. Even though I am not in the healthcare field, I found it interesting. It is worth it to complete, regardless of your degree plan,” said Dora Bell of East Central College, Missouri.

Beyond the curriculum, Phi Theta Kappa and Be The Match will continue to work together to save lives. Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. A blood stem cell transplant could be their only chance at a cure. Young adult stem cell donors are needed and through swab events, information sessions and tabling events throughout the year, Be The Match and Phi Theta Kappa will continue to grow the registry.

Be The Match will attend PTK Catalyst 2022, Phi Theta Kappa’s premier annual event that will be held April 7–9, 2022 in Denver, Colorado. PTK members, advisors and supporters will come together to celebrate the accomplishments of the PTK community. Be The Match will host a swabbing event to add more potential donors to the Be The Match Registry® and spread awareness about our mission to save lives through cellular therapy.
