Reporter Bob Collins shared his personal story as a member of the Be The Match Registry. After signing up twelve years ago, he is no longer able to donate, as he has passed the age restriction for donors. Although saddened by his inability to help, particularly three people in his community desperate to find a match, Collins finds other ways he can give back, such as giving blood and monetary donations. Collins also called on younger generations to join the registry, in hopes they may be a match for someone in need. As he hoped, a few younger readers commented on his article, saying, “I just signed up to be a donor, so I filled your empty spot, Bob.”
