Reg Chapman, reporter with WCCO-TV, highlighted one woman’s fight against leukemia. Lisa Korslund of the greater Minneapolis area was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010. Her only hope for a cure was bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor. Fortunately, Korslund found a matching donor on the Be The Match Registry. Celebrating her second chance at life, Korslund organized a Be The Match Walk+Run team which has raised $50,000 to date. This money helps cover other patients’ uninsured costs, adds potential donors to the registry, and fuels life-saving transplantation research. Mary Halet, Recruitment Director, Central Region at Be The Match, noted that ordinary people have the power to save a patient in need.
